The Friends 2nd Dog Show Was A Grand Success
On Saturday morning the Friends held the second annual Palewell Dog Show on the Common and it was great fun and a huge success. Over 30 dogs took part with stiff competition in all three categories: Handsomest Male, Prettiest Female and Cutest Puppy. The judges- Andrew Noble from East Sheen’s grooming and daycare specialist Dogtown and Ali Coverdale from boutique Oh Darling- had a very challenging job to decide which fabulous pooches deserved their rosettes!
You will see below some of the Committee members limbering up and getting ready for all the four legged friends and their eager owners to arrive!

There was as always a bit of time for banter.
The array of four legged friends was outstanding, we are sure the grooming salons must have been busy this week!
This fantastic community event would not have happened without the very generous sponsorship of Ali Coverdale from East Sheen boutique and beauty salon Oh Darling who also donated a beauty voucher as a prize for the prettiest female (to be used by her owner we assume!).
We had great support from the Vets on White Hart Lane who was on standby for tips and advice. They also brought along Emily Mazon an animal behaviourist to support any that had issues they needed to address with their four legged friends.
Prize winners will be tucking into their goody bags and treat cups generously donated by Sheen Pets. Other prizes were kindly donated by Pickle & Rye, the Hare & Hounds, 4Paws in the Park and Dogtown.
A big yawn was had one of our friends, no doubt up late making sure this magnificent coat was perfectly groomed ready for the big day.
A few handsome males wait in anticipation to see who might win a prize.
One cute puppy asking mummy what is going on I think.
The anticipation grows as the Judge does his rounds.
What a beautiful coat.
Handsomest Male: 1st Charlie, Cocker Spaniel owned by Barbara Popple 2nd Alfie, Cockapoo owned by Monti Slade 3rd Rocky, mixed breed, owned by Clive Delves
Now all the girlies get together to discuss grooming tips and hope to flutter lashes at the Judge!
Those eyes!
Prettiest Female: 1st Heidi, Pyrenean Mountain Dog owned by Jan Jakobsen 2nd Phoebe, owned by Kate Meikle 3rd Lucy, Portuguese Water dog, owned by Fern Roberts
Archie the 11 month old pug found a kindred spirit in the form of a cute girl pug, it was then time for play, play, play.
The puppies behaved extremely well as Ali from Oh Darling prepared to the the rounds.
Cutest Puppy: 1st Gigi, French Bulldog, owned by Juliette Weens 2nd Ember, Spaniel, owned by Chloe Kyle 3rd Otto, mixed breed, owned by Carla Naidoo
As you can see Archie the pug and his new found mates didn’t seem to give a hoot about the judging it was just play time now all around.
Archie the pug, though he didn’t win, snuck away with one of the treat boxes ready to hide away in his basket for later!
As the Friends we are hugely grateful to all of those who donated prizes and participated and made this community event such a success. We were particularly delighted by the large number of new members of the Friends who signed up. If you would like to join please see our website: The Friends of Palewell Common Membership Page
