A Successful Easter Egg Hunt
Thanks to Bernard’s hard work and a well timed gap in Easter Sunday showers we had a very successful egg hunt on the Common. About 25 children turned up and had great fun searching out the 100 or so potatoes which Bernard and Angela had put out on the dog free area earlier in the morning.
A few pictures from the day – Bernard issued the instructions for the day to get matters going.

And then the children set off to gather the eggs (with Angela giving a helping hand to one of her grand daughters)!

With rain clouds gathering we invited the children to come back and collect eggs in exchange for potatoes.
Very quickly Bernard, Mona, Andy and I handed out what seemed an enormous number of eggs – funded both by Waitrose and the Friends. The biggest number that I remember seeing someone taking away was 8 – I hope they weren’t all eaten in one go!
We do have a few eggs left – so maybe we need to find a suitable charity to donate them to. Or we could have a chocolate feast at our AGM!
Many thanks to Bernard for organising such a successful event – I’m sure it’s one which could feature in our programme in future years.
